Mag. Frauke Binder, Site Director
Frauke is a native of Hannover, Germany. She relocated to Vienna 1997 and began work with AHA students more than ten years ago. She began as an instructor of German language and Crosscultural Communication and has been a Program Assistant, until she began serving as Site Director in 2008. She has been an instructor at the Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazific in Portland, OR (2001-2009) and is a member of the International Breathwork Foundation.

Mag. Daniela Erlach, Home-stay Coordinator
Daniela was born in Vienna, graduated in history and political sciences from the University of Vienna and works as self-employed businesswoman in the field of culture and science. She has longtime experience as host mother for AHA and is now responsible for the home-stays in Vienna.

A native of Italy, Paola now lives in Vienna and cooperates with?Interkulturelles Zentrum on topics related to non-formal education and learning in Europe. She has extensive experience training trainers in human rights education for the Youth Programme of the Council of Europe.  She is currently involved in a project aiming at developing the key competence "Learning to Learn" and in training courses for youth workers on European Citizenship throughout Europe.

Deitmar FrieseneggerDietmar Friesenegger
Dietmar earned a joint Magister philosophiae degree in French and Music Education from the University of Vienna and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, as well as a Masters degree in Vocal Accompanying from the Conservatory of Vienna. His current research interests include the music of Hans Rott, a fellow student of Gustav Mahler; the music of exiled Austrian composers; and the intersection of music and literature in French novels.

Dr. Ernest GnanErnest Gnan
Dr. Gnan is Counsel to the Board and Head of the Economic Analysis Division of the Austrian Central Bank as well as a member of the European Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee. A native of Austria, he worked at the European Commission and the European Monetary Institute. He has published widely on various economic topics and has a long teaching record in macroeconomics and European economic issues.

Dr. Evelyn Klein
Dr. Klein graduated in Sociology and Political Science from the University of Vienna. She is a Clinical Psychologist, Psychoanalyst with training from the Viennese Psychoanalytic Association. She works as a social scientist at the University of Klagenfurt and teaches at the University of Applied Arts: Vienna. Her specialization is in intercultural communication and intercultural conflict transformation.

Thomas Laimer

Thomas has been working as a German language instructor for AHA since 1996 and teaches German as a second language at the Youth Education Center where he works with young people from all over the world. He was born in Vienna and combines language learning and city-life as often as possible in his classes.obermayr




Mag.Karin Obermayr
Karin has been working as a German Language instructor since 1998 and she teaches German as a Second Language with Cross Cultural Competence in Vienna. She was born in Lower Austria and graduated in Philosophy and German Philology at the University of Vienna. Her special subjects are Sociolinguistics and auditory skills.

Dr. Reinhard Petschnigg, PhD
Dr. Petschnigg has a research background and practical experience in European affairs stemming from his service as a representative of the Austrian Central Bank (OeNB) in Brussels and his service at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt. He is currently Head of Unit in the Credit Division of the OeNB, Vienna.

Gudrun Rabussay-Schwald
Gudrun co-teaches the courses on International Organizations and International Human Rights Protection with Lisa. She is a freelance trainer and consultant for human rights.


schoenMarkus Schoen
Markus has been passionate about art ever since childhood. He holds a Master’s Degree in History of Art from Vienna University and has been working in some of Vienna’s most famous museums for many years. “I really enjoy standing face to face with pictures by Klimt or Schiele, breathing the air inside historic buildings and getting to know different people – that´s a very important part of my life.”


Peter StachelPeter Stachel
Peter is a graduate of Graz University with degrees in History, European Ethnology and Philosophy. Since 1999 he has served as Collaborator at the Commission for Culture Studies and History of Theatre (IKT) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His areas of specialty are Austrian/Central European History (18th­20th centuries); History of Scholarship; Studies in Culture, Memory and Political and National Symbols and Rituals; and the History of Music.

Lisa Stadlmayr
Lisa co-teaches the courses on International Organizations and International Human Rights Protection, together with Gudrun Rabussay-Schwald. She is a Ph.D. candidate in the field of Human Rights at the University of Vienna, Faculty of Law and currently works in Central Asia.


Gerhard

Gerhard Strohmeier
Gerhard teaches urban and regional sociology at the Alps-Adria University of Klagenfurt, at the University of Vienna, and at the Danube University in Krems. His research focuses on public space in cities, development of Central and Eastern European Cities, and on the development of peripheral regions in Europe.

Dr. Christine Stromberger
Dr. Stromberger is the co-founder of the first psycho-social counseling centre for women in Vienna. She is a supervisor and trainer for professionals in the psycho-social field. She works at the Ministry of Education, the Arts and Culture Vienna/Department for International Affairs in the field of co-operation with UNESCO, global education, and International cooperation in education projects.

Rebecca Vogels
Rebecca studied violin, musicology and music theory at the Hochschule für Musik Köln, University of Vienna, Manhattan School of Music, and Columbia University. She worked as a Music Co-Curator for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in New York, where she was immersed in the work and life of John Cage. Her current research interests include the connection between music and literature, cyclical versus teleological time in music, and the relationship between music and urbanity.

Dr. Gregory Weeks
Dr. Gregory Weeks is a specialist in contemporary and Austrian/Central European history. His research focuses on civil-military relations, genocide intervention, and twentieth century Austrian and German diplomatic and military history. He is the co-author of Vienna’s Conscience: Close Ups and Conversations after Hitler.
