Originally a Roman settlement, Macerata is the perfect location to immerse yourself in Italian history and culture.  AHA Macerata offers you the opportunity to study on the fall or spring semester Language and Culture program or the summer Art Studio program.


LANGUAGE AND CULTURE PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Fall and spring semester programs
  • Courses offered in English in Art, Art History, History, Italian Studies, Literature, and Music History
  • Italian language offered from beginning to advanced
  • No previous Italian language required
  • Students can enroll in a specially designed painting course at the Accademia di Belle Arti through AHA
  • Students can participate in the Tandem Project, which pairs them with Italian students
  • Past excursions include trips to Florence, Rome, Assisi, Loreto, Tolentino, and Ascoli Piceno
  • The town of Macerata and the surrounding area, with destinations and activities outside of the classroom, such as excursions to the beach, wine tastings at local vineyards, hiking in the Appenine mountains, extensive walking tours, and concerts and musical performances are important components of the cultural experience
  • Students live in apartments with other students within walking distance of the AHA Center


SUMMER ART STUDIO PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Five -week summer program
  • Art studio is designed for art majors and minors with previous art coursework
  • A key feature of the summer program is a four-day excursion to Venice for the Biennale
  • The town of Macerata and the surrounding area, with destinations and activities outside of the classroom such as excursions to the beach, wine tastings at local vineyards, hiking in the Appenine mountains, extensive walking tours, and concerts and musical performances are important components of the cultural experience
  • Students live in apartments with other students within walking distance of the AHA Center
  • All students enroll in survival Italian
  • No previous Italian language required
